I think the powerful influence of seeing "Star Wars" at the tender age of 9 was the reason I misunderstood the chorus. I just somehow acquired this mental image of a damaged and dismantled C-3PO lying in a heap, bewailing his predicament in his usual pessimistic fashion, "Oh, Artoo, I can't be repaired!" It was later on, as a teen, that I saw the song listed on a War album cover and thought, "Oh, okay, that's what they sang." Man, did I have a wild imagination as a kid.
