The Story: Don't eat the fruit in the garden, Eden,, It wasn't in God's natural plan., You were only a rib,, And look at what you did,, To Adam, the father of Man.
The Story: You smell like goat, I'll see you in hell
I first heard "Red Barchetta" when I was eleven years old and for several years afterwards I carried a more innocent interpretation of this song as the narrator describing a ride he was taking through the countryside on a bicycle, being playfully pursued by his older brothers. Eventually their mother went out looking for them on her own bicycle to call them all home for dinner.
Then one day I pick up a book of Rush lyrics in a music store and realize that there's this whole other "cars have been outlawed" plot to the song. I felt like the biggest dweeb in the world, which is saying a lot coming from a Rush fan such as myself.
