    For years I thought the song was about this guy Jed, who was walking along Main Street minding his own business when he's taken in by the cops and put in a police line-up. I thought the song was about Jed worrying about being wrongfully chosen and sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit ('Don't carry me too far away... 'cause it's here that I got to stay...)
