At 5:30a.m. I woke in the dark wondering about the lyrics of a song I'd heard since I was a teenager. (How do I know why it popped into my head.) The Yiddish Radio Project website described wonderfully how a '30s Yiddish song became a hit even in Germany...until the Nazis caught onto its Jewish background.
