The story:

I was seven, when the song came out, and I told my four year old sister that those were the words, and she walked up Bell Street singing it at the top of her voice. There were some teenage girls walking down the street, and they heard. And laughed in an excruciatingly patronisingly pleasant way that I was extremely embarrassed. I knew immediately that I got it wrong and somehow the fact that my sister was the object of the embarrassment made it somehow worse. I never sang the song again, and kept silent on the subject. However, I got my punishment in 1989, when watching the film on video I remarked to my girlfriend that, "they don't say 'You're the one in the bowl', after all", and my secret was out. Of course I married her, and every so often she revisits my shame.
