In my earlier years when I heard it that way, I was thinking, this poor guy has lots of money, and maybe a nice house and a cool car, but the ladies aren't interested.
It was only a few weeks before I found out the real words, but 5 years ago I told my son what I thought the words were at first - he gasped in horror thinking that "what I've got" meant what the guy had in his pants. :o
