I'm part of a Kinks digest, where hundreds of Kinks fans discuss the Kinks, analyze songs, post Kinks news, etc. We were discussing lyrics, and I admitted how I had heard the song for years. No one else heard it that way, and what's embarrassing is that, when I listen to it, I still sing it with the lyrics as I thought they were.

I do, too. I guess my version would have been considered inappropriate back when the song came out, but the Kinks were a pretty cutting-edge group.
