The story:

This was always one of my guilty-pleasure songs, but I was always
confused by the line And would you cry/If I towed you down the
line/And would you say goodbye/Or would you let it ride?

What does it mean to "tow you down the line?" I always pictured
some guy dragging a woman by the hair down the middle of the
dividing line of a highway or something. This misogynistic bit of
weirdness always spoiled my enjoyment of what was otherwise a
great slice of 70's sideburns-rock.

Of course, now it's 2013 and we have this thing called the internet.
Weirdness solved. Embarrassed grin...
