The story:

This Spinners remake came out when I was in grade school and, having only a clock radio, the fidelity wasn't that good.
I always thought my lyrics were wrong(what kind of name is Uncle Gwynn anyway??) but I didn't figure it out until I finally heard the Four Seasons' original version...about 12 years later!
Even now I sing my wrong lyrics whenever that verse comes around!
