The story:

My mother heard it incorrectly, and believed her version for quite a while until I (here's the embarrassing part) pulled out my Bee Gees album (vinyl) to show her the real lyrics. She thought they were singing about a bald-headed woman because the Bee Gees themselves had so much hair. We have met other people since then who heard it the same way.
