Beer-knitted cans in the pale moonlight

The story:

I was singing this song verse by verse with a co-worker. I sang the aforementioned lyrics and my co-worker burst out laughing asking me to repeat it. She laughed 'til she cried, all the while asking me what beer-knitted cans were.
