Do you remember a garden spade...

The story:

I was at a David Bowie themed party and this song came on and I was
really excited because it's one of my favourite Bowie songs. So I
started singing it pretty loud and everyone just fell about laughing at
me, because, being a David Bowie party, everyone there knew his
songs well. Turns out there were quite a few lines I had always heard
completely wrong, and nobody else could hear my version. All those
years I just thought it was a song that wasn't supposed to make
sense.
