The story:

When I first heard the song I thought the band were GENIUSES! It was done with that generic rock guitar feel, but it seemed to me obvious that the singers were being sarcastic, and that they were singing from the point of view of some loser who honestly thought his custom van was so hot he could get chicks with it.

Without embarassment to me, somebody told me about the song and made it clear what the real lyrics were. I was crushed! The band I thought were so clever and cool, whoever they were, actually WERE, for REAL, what I thought they were parodying.

And their beards looked silly, too.
