The story:

I heard 'Bobby' in the first verse and thought that I heard 'Robert' in the second. I figured that it was a reference to Robert F. Kennedy (who'd been killed 5 years before). I heard David Bowie sing it as 'Robin Hood'. I heard Def Leppard sing it as 'Rock and Roll', which is not what it sounds like at all. I figured that it's probably 'Robin Hood', because, well, I trust Bowie. Nope. Def Leppard got it right- go figure.
