Give us our stale and daily bread...

The story:

When I was at a parochial school, I said this aloud
in prayer along with the rest of the school at the
beginning of the day, and even after I discovered
what the prayer was really saying, I kept saying my
version aloud, until I got into a little trouble for
it. But to this day, I like my version better.
Anyway, the bread at Roman Catholic churches is hard
(I think), and thus would taste stale.
