The story:

I was a DJ working for a classic rock station, running a noon-time show called "Lost Lyrics". The contest was, that I'd give the lyrics, and listeners would call in and guess the song for a prize. I thought I knew the song well enough to just say the lyrics that I thought were correct over the airwaves. The first person who called in - live on the air - corrected me, while several thousand listeners had a good laugh at my expense.
