The story:

I was not the one that misunderstood these lyrics. I was a Jazzercise instructor and this song and the Joan Jett version were both routines. My class actually misunderstood the lyrics and thought that they were appropriate for the routine we were doing since we were doing a type of squat to lessen the size of our thighs. So needless to say they were embarrassed to hear that the lyrics were not at all what they thought. Their version was not better but we still sung them that way in class.
