Just a second ago when I read the real version of this lyric on THIS website. I don't know what I was thinking - all this time I assumed he'd euphemistically "worked" alone to practice having sex with this girl - he just wanted to get the feeling right before the big moment. It makes sense but I feel really stupid now. How embarrasing.
