    "Ice Capades"

    Artist: Jackson Janet
    Song: Escapade
Real Lyric: "Escapade. We'll have a good time."

    The story:

I only learned the truth of my "Ice Capades"
debacle when, while happily singing along with the
song on the car radio, my friend turned to me and
said, "What the *bleep* do the ice capades have to
do with this song?" Umm....oops. Until this week I'd mistakenly thought "SnapChat"
was actually called "SnatchChat" (gives an
entirely different meaning to the site.) This is
just another in a long line of Melissa's never
really understanding anything. Until last month, I
had believed, for about THREE DECADES, that the
song "Hold on Loosely" was actually called, "Hold
on, Lucy." I didn't know Lucy, but I was always
pulling for her to "hold on." I'm sort of crushed
    that "Lucy" doesn't exist.

Then there's the two years I spent belting, at the
top of my lungs anywhere and everywhere, "Ice
capades! We'll have a good time! Leave your
worries behind!" Although initially confused about
why Janet Jackson would endorse this company in a
huge record single, having experienced the "magic
on ice" that is The Ice Capades, who was I to
question Janet's artistic choices?! Turns out the
so-called "real name" of the song was "Escapade."
Whatever. I vote "Ice Capades" every time! Lyrics,
schmyrics. Things like words, site names,
hashtags, catch-phrases, and the like, are only
wrong if you admit to it. In the immortal words of
80s heartthrob Corey Hart - "Never Remember!!"
