As a non-native speaker of English, this came slowly. At first one just doesn't think about what one hears, then, over the years, one slowly starts to think, No, come on, this can't be correct. Why should Kate Bush swallow laces? Or sing about it? Is this some kind of weird Trichophagia?
Luckily, there was no embarrassing moment involved. I just looked the lyrics up finally.
And found the real lyrics rather boring, now that I come to think of it.
