The Story: You smell like goat, I'll see you in hell
When I first heard the song over the radio in 1999, I thought I heard the synthesized voice go "I'm Blue, I will beat up a dolly". But just to be sure, I thought I'd listen to the song again. After a few subsequent listenings (and mishearings), I was somehow convinced that it was "I will beat up a dolly", and the song was about a guy that was so depressed that he was beating up dolls to vent his frustration (of course, I was pretty depressed then myself).
I soon forgot about the song, until last year, when I accidentally stumbled across the correct lyrics while looking for other lyrics. I thought back about my version, and it hit me that I was wrong.
The sad thing was, I never bothered googling up the lyrics when I first heard the song because I was overconfident of my hearing.
