The story:

First, a disclaimer: I am not the only one who has misheard the
lyrics thus. I have met several other people who heard it the same
way. But, I swear that when I first heard the song, that is what I
thought Martha Davis was singing. I figured out the correct words
fairly soon by listening more carefully, but on those rare occasions
the song comes on my radio, I still smile.
