It was the early days of Napster, and this was probably the first entire album I downloaded and burned onto CD over my trusty 56k dialup. Did end up buying it a few weeks later.
Played it on the stereo in the living room in the student house where I was living, and we all fell about in hysterics at this misheard lyric, all being from the north of England (where 'aye' usually means 'yes' or 'don't you agree?'), because we couldn't hear it as anything else. Probably had something to do with the weed as well.
