Like a twister I was born to walk alone.

    Artist: Whitesnake
Real Lyric: Like a drifter I was born to walk alone.

    The story:

I was singing along in the car with my husband who was a big fan of the hair bands in the 80's. We were jammin to some Whitesnake on the radio and when this particular line of the song came up, I continued belting out my own version of what I thought it said. My husband almost had to pull over he was laughing so hard. He proceeded to inform me that the word was drifter, not twister. So then I argued with him for like 10 minutes that I could be right, because twisters do walk alone, as they would consume everything in their path. He finally gave up for the rest of the car ride (although he continued to chuckle every time he thought about it) and made me get online when we got home to prove to me that the version I'd been singing for almost 15 years was so wrong.
