The Story: Don't eat the fruit in the garden, Eden,, It wasn't in God's natural plan., You were only a rib,, And look at what you did,, To Adam, the father of Man.
The Story: You smell like goat, I'll see you in hell
I knew what I was hearing HAD to be wrong, and I would
carefully listen to the song to see if the rest of the lyrics, which
were understandable enough, held any clues. They didn't. Don't
get me wrong, I love The Who, and it's their command of the
English language that is one of the things that makes them
timeless, but how many people use the words "eminence front"
in daily conversation? It was my songwriter wife who clued me
in, laughing uproariously at what I had been hearing in those
words for years. The words "Livin' in a stump" made me think of
the fake tree stumps that the Allied prisoners at Stalag 13 would
emerge from in the TV show "Hogan's Heroes."
