    Love is a ferriswheel

    Artist: Pat Benatar
Real Lyric: Love is a Battlefield

    The story:

It wasn't me who misheard the lyric it was my mom. I grew up watching videos in the 80s and singing along to the radio in the car with my mom, so I have no clue how she didn't figure out she had misheard it but she did.
About 6 yrs ago we were stopped at a light and she says to me as this song is ending..."You know I never understood that song." I ask why. "Well how is love a ferriswheel?" I pause thinking she's attempting to make a joke and I slowly turn my head after about 15 seonds when I realize she's serious. "A what?!" "A ferriswheel." "No mom, 'Love is a BATTLEFIELD' not a ferriswheel." "OMG! That makes so much more sense!", she says. It seems that up until 2004 she heard "ferriswheel" thinking it was a symbol for how love could turn you in circles...because a ferriswheel is a circle. She was reaching but I still make fun of her to this day. God love her, she's always great for entertainment.
