I was a teenager when this song was popular. I was hanging out at Cheney's Music Centre in Riverside, Calif., visiting a classmate who worked there, when a guy came in and asked for sheet music for "that new Paul Simon tune. I just heard it and I don't know the words but it's got this line..."
