The story:

I was hosting an oldies show at a Southern
European Network affiliate station of the
Armed Forces Radio Service in Sigonella
Sicily, and doing a series on Number One
Songs of the Sixties. When I got to 1965, the
Hermits' song was on the list, of course. I
intro'ed the song as "Here are Herman's
Hermits from 1965, singing about that girl
with chartreuse hair." My program director,
Gene Schoeck, came into the studio after I
had uttered the words laughing himself sick
and informed me of the correct lyrics.
