    Artist: J. Geils Band
    Song: Centerfold
Real Lyric: My blood runs cold, my memory has just been soldMy angel is a centerfoldAngel is a centerfold

    The story:

As many times as I've heard the song 'Centerfold' and as often as I thought it was weird that the song suddenly deviated from talking about a girl the guy liked to talking about an Asian working with Interpol to steal his memory, you'd think I'd have stopped to really listen to the lyrics -- or at least look them up. But no...

I was driving with my 13 year old nephew about 2 weeks ago when the song came on the radio. I said something like: "Oh, man! I LOVE this song. Crank it up!"

I started sing the song at nearly the top of my lungs, trying to impress my nephew with 1980's coolness when, all of a sudden, he starts cracking up. By the time I'd said "my memory has just been stole, my asian is in Interpol" twice he was laughing hysterically.

Now, keep in mind that he was born nearly 32 years AFTER the song was first produced while I've been singing along with it for the same amount of time.

I turn the radio down and ask him what's wrong. Through guffaws he tells me the REAL words and all of sudden the ENTIRE song makes sense to me. I started laughing which got him going again and soon enough I had to pull over because I couldn't see due to tears welling up and rolling from my eyes.

    Kids these days!! :)
