The story:

At first, I only heard this song on the radio, but after getting the album years later and reading the lyrics included, I found out I was wrong! Years earlier, I'd heard that David Bowie had cowritten "Fame" with John Lennon, and somehow I misheard this line, thinking Lennon had referred to his hometown in the song.
