This was on every K-Tel super hits eight track made in the 70s and I remember clearly listening to it throughout the summer of 1973. We were only 15 years old, and the screaming line in the middle of the song sounded to us like "screwin' me". ("Cruel and mean", the actual lyrics, never occurred to us). I was in college when someone told me what the actual words were.
