The Story: Don't eat the fruit in the garden, Eden,, It wasn't in God's natural plan., You were only a rib,, And look at what you did,, To Adam, the father of Man.
The Story: You smell like goat, I'll see you in hell
"Blinded by the Light" is a favorite of 98.9 "The Buzz" in Rochester, New York, where I go to college; I only became familiar with the song this past year. I guess I got the "revved up" part of the line right and then tried to figure out what would be revved up and sound like "douche". I came up with a Dusenberg, which worked for me since I didn't know what the song was about anyway. I still don't. Eventually, I looked up the actual words online; I guess a deuce (as in the coupe) makes sense, but I wouldn't have thought of it.
It surprises me how many people still insist that "douche" is part of the song's true lyrics because that's how it sounds, even those who are well informed of what Manfred Mann claims about the words. Many of them compare it to In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida in that respect.
