The story:

Actually it was a friend of mine who got the lyrics so wrong (it's always a friend, eh?). He was the first of us to listen to this song and I didn't ever know, this version wasn't correct. Internet was not available those years, I hadn't bought the album, so I had to rely on him. Well, "stinkers" seemed an icredibly funny term for an honest band like Iron Maiden, anyway, we didn't care. When I found out a year or two later, it wasn't really embarrassing, just fun.
