I always thought the song was about a girl who kicked her boyfriends butt for cheating on her and when she sang "scrape my boots off" I really thought she had to clean her boots because she kicked his butt so bad!
I was in the car with a now ex gf and this came on and I was singing "my version". When the line came up, she was sipping her coke and she sprayed it all over the inside of my car when I sang "scrape my boots off"
