Casually consulting the lyrics online one day, I realised that my understanding of one of the most popular songs on one of the Beatles' biggest-selling LPs, after twenty years, had been wrong all along. (I had to check several sources because I was convinced I was right!)
(Golden Wonders was Britain's biggest-selling brand of potato crisps from the days of Abbey Road to my sad realisation. I had unthinkingly decided it was just another UK brand reference, like "His son is working for the Daily Mail", or "he shoot Coca-Cola. Just seemed to fit right in stylistically, too.
