In point of fact, it was my mom who screwed up these lyrics. Having given her a "Best of Herman's Hermits" cassette on a visit, I doubled over laughing one day when I walked in to hear my very British mum singing these bizarre lyrics. Once I explained the error to her, she was so relieved! "I felt rather uncomfortable with the subject matter," she explained, "but I liked the melody so much that I just couldn't help singing it."
