As a teenager, I was on a double date when the song came on the car radio. We all sang it, and I sang it the way I thought it was . . . but wasn't. The girl I was dating wouldn't go out with me again - go figure. These days, my wife and I both sing it the "wrong" way - she thinks it's funny. I love her.
