The story:

I first heard the song around age 4 and made up my own
childish lyrics as I had no idea what on earth the smarmy
singer was talking about. I learned part of my error much later
upon actually learning the song title (Weird Al parodied the
song on an album of his I bought as "Grapefruit Diet"). Just
recently, I Shazam'd the song and found out the rest of the
lyrics of the chorus. I mean, I guess the real ones are more
interesting, but come on--"hair" and "beer" don't rhyme!
