The story:

My husband and I heard the song on the radio and I started singing the chorus and he looked at me incredulously and said, "Sing that again." He laughed and told me it was "I bless the rains." He hasn't stopped making fun of me for it yet!

Fortunately, he did not hear the "men hearst" or "Sara-yay-hee" from me. As a kid whose very first 45 record ever was this song, I thought "Sara-yay-hee" was a weird way of saying Sarajevo (as in Yugoslavia).
