That goddam black kid...

The story:

My husband was singing this song this way at home, and is famous for making up his own lyrics (usually dirty ones). He really thought this was the true lyric though, and argued with me about it for awhile. After I got on the internet to prove him wrong, he had one of those "Ohhhhhh, that's why" moments. Evidently at one point in the recent past while out of town working, he had been singing the song with the radio in public. He is the epitome of a white hillbilly guy, and was surrounded by a group of very tough gangster type black guys. He said "No wonder they were looking at me funny." Now every time he hears it, he says "Are you sure? Listen..." and starts singing it "his" way again.
