I must confess it was not me who misheard this lyric, but a friend I was at primary school with (Joanna Brown). One Christmas time, she took great delight in telling the whole class what an idiot she'd been by thinking she was singing a hymn about a Mitchell brother-type (only "Eastenders" fans will get this reference) as opposed to the infant Jesus Christ!
