My best friend loves this song, and I thought for
years she was loudly singing lyrics at parties
that she thought were funny.
It wasn't until she'd done this a few times that
it suddenly occurred to me she didn't know what
the real lyrics were. She didn't. She had a whole
story in her mind about how a mysterious ship
self-destructing fit into the Waterloo song.
She had a look of horror as she realised that at
all those parties, her fellow guests may not have
been laughing WITH her.
