This one has two stages of wrongness. When I was really young I assumed that it was talking about the aquatic animal, but then when I got to be around eight I thought I had "figured it out." I thought that the reason had no pain was that you had "sealed" it all away. I was all impressed that I had understood the message. Then finally a few years ago I was trying to find the lyrics for some other section of the song and I found out what it really was.
