The story:

I thought the lyrics I knew must be wrong, but I always sang them like I knew them anyway. I'd even been able to sing it infront of people without anyone realizing it was wrong, miraculously enough... until one day when I was singing along with it, my best friend goes, "What'd you say?" and i said, "Confident embassy." She busts out laughing, with me trying to explain that it sounded like the singer was blending the end of the word "confident" and the beginning of "embassy" together, making it sound like 'confid-embassy'. We went online and finally found the real words, and she still teases me about it today...
