I think I just figured that my interpretation of the lyric was too absurd for it to be real. So, I looked it up and found that it was "nothing," not "muffin."
Personally, I think it's hilarious. What's not to love about the mental image of Brian Connolly repeatedly poking a muffin whilst the other members of Sweet look on in puzzlement and mild horror?
