Who would have thought ... it's the Earth

The story:

I was pretty sure I was hearing the lyrics wrong, but it took me a while to get the gumption to ask my fellow Alanis Morrisette fan (well it's a kind of love/hate relationship with her music) friends what the real lyrics were.

I think mine are better -- as many snobs have pointed out, what Ms. Morrisette describes in this song is not irony, but it does seem to occur all too often: so often it is a universal, i.e. over all of "the earth" experience. My friends and I thus now call such "ironies" "the Earth". A neologism beats out a stock phrase, anyday ... dontcha think?
