The Story: Don't eat the fruit in the garden, Eden,, It wasn't in God's natural plan., You were only a rib,, And look at what you did,, To Adam, the father of Man.
The Story: You smell like goat, I'll see you in hell
I am not a native German speaker, so my ears invented the
word "Fluegelheit", combining the "Fluegel" of "Fluegelhorn"
with the suffix "-heit". "Fluegelheit" would mean
approximately "state of having wings", whereas the actual
line means, "Where thy gentle wings abide". I didn't know the
meaning of "sanfter" either.
I own two different recordings of Beethoven's Ninth
Symphony, but neither one provides the lyrics to the finale. I
only learned the correct lyrics from attending a live
performance; the program included the lyrics to this
movement.
