Just now... The first line was the mistake of a college friend of mine who argued with me for nearly an hour before I convinced him that my version, the second mistake, was correct. I thought that I had it right until I came here and decided to double check the lyric before I posted. All the copies of the lyrics that I can find list "the cold" as the correct lyrics. Personally, I think that mine make a whole lot more sense.
